What can viewers expect in Season 3? According to the official description, “As three generations of Todd Hoffman’s family arrive in Alaska to mine the most promising claim they’ve ever held, tensions rise when Todd’s father, Jack, announces his final season. With winter fast approaching, the Hoffman crew must devise a plan to triple their output and mine 3,000 ounces before the ground freezes over, putting their legacy and livelihood on the line.”

“Hoffman Family Gold” premiered in 2022, and focused on Hoffman, his father, Jack, and his son, Hunter, as they worked with a crew in Alaska.

In a 2023 interview with The Oregonian/OregonLive, in advance of Season 2, Hoffman talked about the appeal of shows like his.

“If you go to work, say at a factory here in Portland, you get home, and you’re not going to have a chance to go out and do the things we do, but you can crack open a beer, and ride the river with us for an hour out of your day. You can watch me makes mistakes, and maybe get gold.”

In a video teaser for Season 3 of “Hoffman Family Gold,” Hoffman says, “We want to hit crazy gold.” But that may not be so easy, judging from other moments in the teaser, where Hoffman says the season has been “one step forward, two gigantic steps back,” and worries that a new wrinkle in the process may “cost me millions of dollars.”

The new season of “Hoffman Family Gold” will premiere at 9 p.m. Friday, June 14, on the Discovery Channel.
